California was one of the states that was on the ball in October when the Affordable Care Act finally became a reality. The state opened its health insurance exchange to allow citizens to apply for new affordable policies and expanded Medicaid coverage through the government. Open enrollment won’t last forever!

California’s version of the health insurance marketplace is Covered California, and you have until March 31, 2014 to insure your family or risk penalties for not having coverage when it comes time to pay taxes. Your new plans can begin as early as January 1, 2014 if you apply for insurance immediately.

However, you don’t have to head online if you have questions about new insurance options or changes to your existing plan. Your personal insurance agent can give you guidance when it comes to applying for a plan through the marketplace or reviewing your existing health insurance coverage.

Feel free to contact the certified agents at Randy Jones Insurance if you want to know how the changes will affect you and your family and/or your business and employees.
