Avoid Being A “Bad Emailer”

Emailing is part of almost everyone’s daily life. From professional emails that are sent to co-workers, to emails to online stores, it is easy to send hundreds of emails throughout the day. To ensure that all of your emails are well received, make sure to avoid these 3 bad email habits.

  1. Taking your time – while you should not feel the need to reply to an email in minutes, you should always reply to an email the same day. If you need more time to collect the information that is needed, send an email reply letting them know.
  2. Never responding – the only thing that is worse than taking your time to reply to an email is not responding at all. If you are out of town, set up an automatic response letting people know when you will be back in town and able to respond.
  3. Disregarding the subject line – your subject line should be informative enough to let the receiver know what the email is about, but not contain all the information. Also, make sure to avoid frivolous subjects.
