Some tips to keep your kids safe this Halloween!

Halloween is almost here! As you get your kids in their costumes and get ready to hand out Halloween candy, remember to put safety first. Talk to your kids about potential dangers this Halloween so that you can help keep them safe. Check out these additional Halloween safety tips:

Costume Consideration.

There are plenty of potential hazards for your kids while they’re out and about. From tripping hazards to cars on the road, help keep your kids safe while trick-or-treating with the right costumes. Make sure their costume’s hem is high enough to avoid tripping hazards and have your child wear comfortable walking shoes. Additionally, choose a costume that’s easily visible in the dark or add reflective tape to their costumes. That way drivers can better spot your child.

Stress the Importance of Stranger Danger.

Halloween is full of interactions with neighbors and strangers alike. So remind your kids to be wary of strangers and stay together with their friends and/or parents. They should not venture into anyone’s home for any reason while out trick-or-treating.

Adult Supervision.

It’s important that you keep an eye on your kids when they go trick-or-treating, especially if you have little ones. Go with a group of friends and neighbors to help improve the experience. You’ll help to keep your kids safe while having fun together and making lasting memories!

Candy Safety.

Before you let your kids eat their Halloween candy, check to make sure it’s okay for them to eat. Some pieces may be too small for younger kids while others may be unwrapped. Toss any open or homemade pieces to protect your kids from anything that you might be unsure of.
