Spring Home Maintenance

Most people think of spring-cleaning when it comes to getting their home ready for the hot weather of summer.  However, there are many other aspects of your home to consider. Keep these spring home maintenance tips in mind to ensure that your home is ready for the spring and summer seasons.

When it comes to your appliances and the interior of your house:

  • Clean the exhaust hose and vent of your dryer. Built up lint is a very common cause of house fires.
  • Check all the crawlspaces of your house and the basement for any dripping water. If you find any issues, get them repaired as soon as possible.
  • If it is time to clean out your air filters, swap them out for new, clean ones. They are pretty inexpensive and easy to DIY!

For your roof, windows, and siding:

  • Look at your roof to see if the harsh winter temperatures caused any damage. If you can see any, hire a professional to fix the issue.
  • Check for leaks around the windowsills in your house to protect against those spring showers and to keep cool air in and hot air out!
  •  Re-caulking or adding new weather stripping can help to make your home air tight, leading to savings on your energy bill.
