Looking for a way to impress your friends and family coming over for the 4th of July this year? Try this delicious Chili Dog recipe and you’ll be sure to see jaws drop! This recipe yields a serving size of four people. For additional guests, multiply ingredients accordingly.
What you’ll need:
- Olive Oil
- 1 chopped, medium onion
- 2 chopped gloves of garlic
- 1 pound of Lean Ground Beef
- 2 ½ cups of Ketchup
- 1 Teaspoon of Chili Powder
- 2 Tablespoons of Yellow Mustard
- 4 All-Beef Hot Dogs
- 4 Hot Dog Rolls
- ½ Cup of Grated Cheddar
First, place a skillet over medium heat and drizzle olive oil in the pan. Add the onion and garlic to the skillet once the oil gets hazy. After about 5 minutes of stirring the mixture, add the ground beef, breaking it up with the back of your wooden spoon. After about 10 minutes, the mixture should be browned. Next, add the ketchup, chili powder, and mustard and stir for about 15 more minutes until the mixture is thickened.
Parboil the hot dogs in a pot of simmering water for about 5 minutes and then grill them just enough to mark them and give them a smoked flavor. Once you toast the buns, add the hot dogs, top them off with chili and add cheddar cheese, you’re ready to serve and watch your friends’ faces in enjoyment. Make sure to save a couple for yourself!
