Timelines for Health Care Bill Enactment...What You Need To Know Now

As the new Federal Health Care bill becomes implemented there are certain benefits that will phase in through the end of 2010. While other provisions of the new law will be phased in over time until 2014 and beyond, in 2010 some of the immediate changes will include the following:
‎1. Annual Tanning Tax: 10% tax on indoor tanning
2. Possible $250 rebate to Medicare beneficiaries who reach the Part D donut hole
3. Tax credits for some small employers
4. Temporary national/state high risk pools to be created
5. Dependent coverage for adult children up to age 26
6. No immediate changes to benefits, premiums, physician or hospital networks
By the year 2014, individuals will be required to carry qualifying health coverage either through an employer-sponsored health plan, a government-sponsored health plan (such as Medicare or Medicaid) or a health plan in an Exchange, if they meet the criteria to qualify to buy in to the Exchange.
