Covered California has announced a Special Enrollment opportunity for consumers who “were not aware that there would be a tax penalty for being uninsured in 2014 and were informed they would face a tax penalty for 2015 by not signing up for Obamacare or Covered California”.
If a consumer was “unaware” of the tax penalty component of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the mandate to carry health insurance per the ACA guidelines, they will now be able to apply in a Covered California health plan up until April 30, 2015.
