Energy Saving Tips

The energy in your home is probably not something that you think about every day, until you get your energy bill. To help save money and energy, keep these home energy saving tips in mind.

  • Install a programmable thermostat. Programming your air or heater to only come on to keep your house at a comfortable temperature will help you save hundreds of dollars each year, while also making sure you never come home to a house that is too hot or too cold.
  • Hire a professional to come and check out your HVAC system. Having a properly working HVAC system will help to make sure that you are not wasting energy with a faulty system.
  • Add insulation around any old pipes that are part of your water heater so that the warmth of the water is not lost when it is traveling to your kitchen or bath and making sure you have enough insulation in your attic is also a big plus in keeping the heat in and the cold out!
  • Only run your dishwasher and washing machine when they are completely full. A half load will use the same amount of energy and water as a full one.
