Boating Safety

Even though summer is coming to an end, there is still plenty of time to get out on your boat and enjoy the water. To ensure that you stay safe this boating season, keep these tips in mind.

  • Wear your life jacket – although adults are not required to wear a life jacket while on a boat, having one on during a disaster can save your life. Small children and anyone who is not a strong swimmer should always wear a life jacket while around the water.
  • Be aware of boat exhaust – carbon monoxide can turn deadly in just a couple of minutes. Make sure that everyone on the boat is aware of the danger and don’t linger near the back of the boat when it is idling.
  • Don’t drink and drive your boat – drinking and driving a boat can be just as dangerous as drinking and driving a car. Make sure that you always have a sober, designated driver when out on the water.

Most importantly, make sure that you have the right boat insurance coverage to keep you safe. Contact Randy Jones Insurance Services in Pleasanton, California for all your boat insurance needs.
