Keep your kids healthy and safe this winter.

As a parent, you want to do everything in your power to keep your kids safe.  Unfortunately, your kids may face a greater risk of injury or illness during the winter months.  To protect your kids from wintertime dangers, here are some of the precautions that you should take.

  • Stay Safe While Participating in Winter Sports

If your child likes to ski, snowboard, sled, or ride snowmobiles, then make sure they are supervised at all times.  Children should not be allowed to participate in winter sports unless they have received lessons from a qualified instructor or adult.  When participating in winter sports, children should don the appropriate safety gear, including helmets, goggles, and gloves.  Children should not sled, ski, or snowboard in areas where there is a lot of vegetation or uneven ground.  Children under the age of six should not be permitted to ride a snowmobile, and children under the age of 16 should never operate one on their own.

  • Get Vaccinated

If your child hasn’t already gotten their flu shot, then you should take them into the doctor’s office as soon as possible.  Getting vaccinated for the flu is the best way to ensure that your child does not catch the flu or pass it on to vulnerable parties such as very young children, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems.

  • Keep Their Bodies Strong

Another way to help your kids fight off illness this winter is by making sure they are taking care of themselves.  When your child’s body is strong and well-nourished, it has an easier time fighting off germs and viruses.  So, encourage your child to eat a balanced diet, drink lots of fluids, take vitamin supplements, and get plenty of sleep, so they are as strong and healthy as possible.

These are some of the things that you should do to take care of your kids this winter.  Want another way to protect your loved ones?  Then make sure you have the right personal insurance in place.  For assistance with all your coverage needs, contact the experts at Randy Jones Insurance Services in Pleasanton, California.
